Kaito doesn’t pay too much attention to him as he’s more interested in whether Haruto will be cured by collecting the Numbers or not. Mr. Heartland says, that yes, of course he will be cured, so he should hurry up. After talking with Mr. Heartland Kaito goes to Haruto to tell him that everything will be back to normal soon and asks Orbital 7 to tell him the location of those who have Numbers.
Kaito finds Yamikawa first who is attacking someone. Nothing happens that’s worth mentioning. After the duel Kaito says that he will dirty his hands as much as necessary if he can save Haruto that way.
They find Yuma next who has just lost to someone and is being lectured by Kotori. Orbital 7 stops the time so that Kaito can duel him without anyone disturbing them. Astral tells Yuma to run away, but Kaito stops him with a Duel Anchor. Astral says that Kaito is stronger than any opponents they have faced until now. After the duel Yuma and Astral are shocked when they hear that Kaito will take away Yuma’s soul. Yuma asks him where the souls go, but Kaito tells him that he doesn’t know and doesn’t care. The moment he wants to take Yuma’s soul he hears Haruto calling for help and quickly leaves.
The third event is pretty similar to the anime. Kaito and Orbital 7 are looking for Haruto who tells his bother that he’s in a palace on the waterside. They find the place soon enough and Kaito runs into IV who tells him that Haruto is still alive, but they have some business with him at the moment, so he can’t let Kaito meet him. Kaito beats IV with the help of Haruto’s power and IV tells Kaito that he is just a pitiful soldier forced to fight for the sake of Haruto who doesn’t care about the souls of the people he took. Kaito doesn’t really care about what he says and instead threatens him saying that he will take away his rotten soul and ask it where Haruto is if he doesn’t tell him. This is when V appears and brings Haruto with him. IV’s job was to buy time until the ritual to take Haruto’s powers finishes and now he’s unconscious because he gave his remaining powers to Kaito. V gives Haruto back and tells Kaito that they will meet in the tournament where he will explain everything. Kaito takes Haruto back to Heartland Tower, but is really worried and angry, so Gauche and Droite try to calm him down by telling him that the only thing he can help with at the moment is collecting Numbers and that he should leave the rest to Mr. Heartland.
Kaito’s first opponent is V in the tournament. He tries to ask V why they did that to Haruto, but he doesn’t answer, so Kaito gets angry and tells V that he won’t forgive him for hurting Haruto even if he’s his mentor. After the duel V explains him who Tron is and why he wants to take revenge on Dr. Faker (the same story as in the anime and in the other characters’ stories). Kaito tells him that he doesn’t care about Dr. Faker and he only has Haruto. V says that Kaito will never understand the pain they went through after losing their father and his brothers were forced to go into an orphanage. He also tells him that he taught Kaito how to duel so that he can protect Haruto and that he might have seen them as his own brothers. When his father returned in his current form he wanted to save him, but couldn’t anything to stop him from taking revenge. Kaito says that he’s fighting to oppose his father and as soon as Haruto is healed he will take care of Dr. Faker himself. He promises that he will save Tron.
His second opponent is Tron. Kaito is angry at him for what he did to Haruto and for sacrificing his own sons, but Tron tells him that it’s strange that he criticises him for this much sacrifice because Kaito took other people’s souls to achieve his own goals. Tron thinks that Kaito might already feel happiness when he steals souls and says that they are similar to each other as both of them sacrifice everything for their own goals. When Kaito threatens him to steal his soul, Tron gets suddenly weakened and says „It hurts…big brother…”. It turns out that Tron stole all of Haruto’s powers and memories when they kidnapped him and attacking him means the same thing as attacking Haruto (like in the anime). Tron tells Kaito that he won’t let him surrender the duel, however at this moment Haruto awakens and gives Kaito his remaining powers. When Tron loses, Kaito tells him that there’s no way Tron could win against the power of the bond between him and his brother because his anger is something he borrowed from other people and he threw away his family. Tron can’t believe he lost against him because of such a stupid reason and says that his sons fought for his revenge, so they were pretty useful. Kaito explains him that he misunderstands it because his sons didn’t fight only out of anger but wanted to bring their kind father back and save him. This is when Dr. Faker appears and activates the field that can take away the Numbers, however Kaito protects Tron. Both Dr. Faker and Tron are shocked and Kaito tells them that he promised V that he would save Tron. Kaito tells Tron that no matter how much he changes the fact that he’s his sons’ father won’t change. Tron says „Father…Ah, yes, I am…” and tells Kaito that he could finally get something important back thanks to him. He releases all of the souls he took away including Haruto’s and his sons’ and asks Kaito to tell his sons that next time he won’t forget about the time they spent together as a family. He uses up all of his powers and disappears.
Dr. Faker and Kaito go to where the Sphere Field Cannon is. Dr. Faker tells him that he must be glad because not only did they get Haruto’s soul back but were able to collect the Numbers from Tron too. Dr. Faker says that they still have something to do before Haruto can be cured which is to destroy the Astral World using Haruto as the SFC’s trigger. Kaito is shocked because he thought that they collected the Numbers to cure Haruto’s illness and Dr. Faker tells him that he did this to realise his own ambitions. Kaito gets angry and challenges him to a duel. When Kaito wins he tells Dr. Faker that until now he has always followed his orders to take away the souls of innocent people because he thought he could save Haruto that way, but now that he knows that it was all a lie he will punish him. This is when the SFC goes out of control and Dr. Faker runs to Haruto in order to protect him. Kaito is shocked because he thought that Dr. Faker didn’t care about them. Dr. Faker explains him how and why he made contract with a Barian (the same story as always). Kaito wonders why Dr. Faker didn’t tell him anything and Dr. Faker says that he knew that if he told him he would have tried to do everything by himself and that’s why he was really glad that he never questioned what he asked from him. Kaito is angry because he has never thought of fighting for Haruto as suffering and because Dr. Faker believed the Barians rather than his own family. When things are about to calm down Vector (energy form) appears. He says that he doesn’t want to give up on his plan now that it has come this far, so this time he wants the whole family to help him. Kaito refuses the offer, so Vector wants to force them to do it, but Dr. Faker attacks him. Vector tries to take over his body, but Dr. Faker resists and Haruto uses his powers to drive him back saying that he will protect his family this time. Kaito tries to attack him next, but the SFC goes out of control again and the room starts collapsing, so Vector runs away. Dr. Faker tells Kaito to escape with Haruto and leave him behind, however Kaito tells him that there is no way he could do that.
In the ending Kaito tells Haruto that he is his hope and that as long as he is there he won’t give up no matter who his opponent may be. Orbital 7 appears and says that he got caught up in the explosion. Dr. Faker apologises again for what he did and says that his sins can’t be forgiven and that he will take responsibility for everything. Since he will live for atoning his sins he might cause his sons some difficulties, so he asks Kaito to protect Haruto. Kaito closes his ending with „It looks like you finally believe in me, father. I will use my power to protect Haruto…no, my family.”.
